Choosing the stack
Which architecture fits your product?
The framework matters less than matching the architecture to how the product is used. These are the three shapes most web applications take, and where each earns its cost.
Server-rendered product
Public pages that must rank and load instantly.
Next.js or Nuxt with server rendering and static generation. Marketing sites, marketplaces, content platforms and anything where a first-time visitor arrives from search. This is where FireVideos.AI and OpenWriterAI live.
Next.js · Nuxt · Vercel or AWS
Application behind a login
Dense, interactive, used for hours at a time.
A React or Vue single-page application against a REST or GraphQL API. Dashboards, admin panels, operational tools. SEO is irrelevant; responsiveness and state management are everything. The REI Op-Center platform is this shape.
React · Vue · Node.js or Laravel API
Multi-tenant SaaS
Many customers, one codebase, isolated data.
Tenant isolation, roles and permissions, subscription billing, background jobs and an embeddable or API surface. The most demanding shape, and the one where early architecture decisions are hardest to undo.
Next.js or Vue · Supabase or Postgres · Stripe
Engineering
What we build
Frontend applications
React, Next.js, Vue and Nuxt, in TypeScript, with component libraries your team can extend. Accessible by default, responsive without a separate mobile build, and tested at the component level.
APIs and backends
Node.js, NestJS, Laravel or FastAPI, exposing REST or GraphQL. Designed around your data model rather than the framework’s defaults, documented as they are built, and versioned so mobile clients do not break on deploy.
Authentication and identity
Auth0, Supabase Auth, Firebase Auth or custom OAuth 2.0 and OIDC. Passwordless, social login, and enterprise SSO against Google Workspace and Microsoft 365. Role-based access designed for the roles you will add, not only the ones you have.
Payments and billing
Stripe, Lemon Squeezy and PayPal. Trials, metered usage, per-seat tiers and one-off checkout, with webhook handling so billing state and application state stay in sync.
Background processing
Queue-backed workers on Lambda and SQS, Firebase Cloud Functions or dedicated services, so imports, syncs and long-running jobs finish whether or not the user stays on the page. Built for the Datamag import pipeline at 30,000 orders per sync.
Embeddable and headless surfaces
Widgets and embeds that drop into third-party sites, and headless APIs your customers integrate against. The real-estate map platform publishes every project as a self-contained embed.
Applications
Products we have shipped this way
Real-estate operations SaaS
Took over the REI Op-Center platform after two developers, rebuilt it on AWS, and scaled it to import tens of thousands of rows and query records in the millions.
Embeddable map builder
A Next.js and Supabase platform where developers upload community maps, mark lots by status and phase, and publish the result as an embed for any website.
AI writing SaaS
OpenWriterAI: resume builder, proposal generator, AI detector and humanizer, with RAG over Supabase and Lemon Squeezy billing. Built as founder and lead engineer.
Script-generation SaaS
FireVideos.AI: YouTube scripts from a title, with selectable length and creator style, trial handling and subscription billing on Next.js and Firebase.
Serverless membership platform
Barker, a dog health and lifestyle platform: Vue.js on Firebase Cloud Functions with Auth0 passwordless login, Stripe and Contentful.
Self-service utility
NCTZEN: claim a domain email alias that forwards to your inbox, with self-service update and deletion and availability checks, on React and Laravel.
Working together
Three ways to start
Most engagements begin with one of these. We will tell you which fits, including when the smallest option is the right one.
Build an MVP
A scoped first release with authentication, the core workflow and payments, delivered in six to ten weeks on a fixed quote.

We audit what you have, stabilise it, and continue building. A rewrite is proposed only when we can show the numbers.

Web development questions we get asked
Should we build with React, Next.js or Vue?
Next.js when the product is public-facing and needs to rank or load fast on first visit, because server rendering and static generation are built in. Plain React when it lives behind a login and SEO is irrelevant. Vue when your team already knows it or you are extending a Vue codebase; we have shipped years of production Vue and will not push you off it for fashion.
How long does a web application take to build?
A focused MVP with authentication, a core workflow and payments is typically six to ten weeks. A multi-tenant SaaS with roles, billing tiers and integrations runs three to six months. The honest variable is scope discipline: the projects that overrun are the ones where the first release tries to be the final one.
Can you take over an existing codebase?
Yes, and it is a large part of what we do. The REI Op-Center platform came to us after two previous developers, without a workable architecture. We audit first, stabilise what is there, and only rewrite the parts whose cost of keeping exceeds the cost of replacing. A full rewrite is the last option, not the first.
What does a multi-tenant SaaS need that a single-tenant app does not?
Tenant isolation at the data layer so one customer can never read another’s rows, a permissions model that survives roles being added later, per-tenant configuration and billing, and background processing that keeps running when a user logs out. Most of that has to be designed in at the start; retrofitting isolation is expensive.
Do you handle hosting and deployment?
Yes. We deploy to Vercel, AWS, or your own infrastructure, with CI/CD so every merge ships through the same pipeline. For AWS-heavy products we use Lambda and SQS for background work, S3 for assets and RDS or Supabase for data, and we hand over runbooks so your team can operate it without us.
How do you handle authentication and single sign-on?
Auth0, Supabase Auth, Firebase Auth or a custom OAuth 2.0 and OIDC implementation, depending on what you already run. We have integrated passwordless phone login, Google and GitHub sign-in, and enterprise SSO against Google Workspace and Microsoft 365. Identity is one of our specialisms, not an afterthought.
Can the application be embedded in other websites?
Yes. The interactive real-estate map platform we built publishes each project as an embed that drops into any third-party site, with its own theme and no dependency on the host page. If your product needs to live inside your customers’ sites, we design for that from the first sprint.
What about payments and subscriptions?
Stripe for most products; Lemon Squeezy where you want merchant-of-record handling for global tax; PayPal where your customers expect it. We have shipped trials, metered billing, per-seat tiers and one-off checkout, and we wire webhooks so the application state and the billing state cannot drift apart.
How do you make a web app fast?
Server rendering or static generation for the first paint, code-splitting so users download only the route they are on, image optimisation and caching at the edge, and database queries designed against real data volumes rather than a ten-row fixture. We measure with Lighthouse and Core Web Vitals before and after, and we show you the numbers.
Will we own the code?
Entirely. Everything is delivered into your own repository and cloud accounts from day one, under an agreement that assigns the work to you. You are never dependent on us to keep the product running, and you can bring in another team at any point.
